Continuing with the series on acute severe pancreatitis, this is a patient with a large acute fluid collection in the lesser sac (Fig. 1) with virtually complete necrosis of the pancreatic parenchyma (Fig. 2). This is perhaps the most severe manifestation of the disease.
Each Wednesday morning, we will put one example of the use of CT in acute abdomen. As a one-top modality, CT can pick up virtually every cause of an acute abdomen, save an ectopic pregnancy.
