This 23-years old man presented with a gradually increasing swelling of the right lower jaw over the last six years.
The OPG (Fig. 1) showed increased density. The CT showed a characteristic ground-glass appearance (Figs. 2, 3). The 3DCT showed the resultant change in the mandibular shape (Fig. 4).
Fibrous dysplasia is common in the jaw bones, especially in the 2nd and 3rd decades and resembles fibrous dysplasia elsewere in the body. Typically, radiologically there is an expansile lesion with a ground-glass appearance on the plain radiographs and on CT. The pathology may be monostotic or polyostotic.
