This is a 70-years old lady who had a stent placed in the proximal CX for a severe lesion (angiogram not available). She returned six months later with breathlessness. A cardiac CT was performed in May 2005 and shows an eccentric plaque causing severe ostial LAD stenosis (Figs. 1, 2). The thinking was that the stent may have led to a plaque shift. She underwent chelation therapy and returned for a repeat study six months later, which showed no change (Figs. 3, 4). There was good in-stent lumen visualization, especially in the second study.
Our advise to patients is not to repeat scans for at least 2 years, since, except in thrombi, it is unlikely that there will be any significant change before that period, in chronic lesions.
